Sprouting Scientists and Hands-On Historians (ages 5-12)

June 26th-30th, 8:30am-12pm

A camp between Port Discover and Museum of the Albemarle…

At Port Discover:
It's sure to be an adventure as we take to the air, land, and sea! Campers will explore camouflage with a scavenger hunt (LAND), the older group will get up in the (AIR) with their very own kite fighter, and finish with an exciting water war (SEA). Join us for this great adventure! 

At Museum of the Albemarle:
Campers will discover how North Carolina not only supported the fight in Europe by training soldiers but the role played from the home front. Campers will learn about conservation efforts such as war gardens, canning, cooking with substitutions, purchasing liberty bonds, and volunteering in various organizations in the war in Europe.

Birding Camp (ages 8-14)

July 10th – 14th, 9am-2pm

Partake in Ornithology by investigating birds and documenting your discoveries! Each Student Ornithologist will record their data in the eBird databank, which is designed to help scientists all around better understand and protect these majestic and important ecological species. This group will spend some time outdoors along with doing some indoor, hands-on, lab work!


Tech Camp (ages 9-14)

July 17th – 21st, 9am-2pm

A highly interactive and collaborative camp with an introduction to the field of computer science. Through a series of puzzles, challenges, and real world scenarios, students are introduced to a problem solving process that they will return to repeatedly throughout the week. They then explore how computers represent and process information in order to solve certain kinds of problems. The camp concludes with students designing an application that could help address a problem of their choosing.


Robotics Camp (ages 8-14)

July 31st - August 4th 9am-2pm

Test your robotic muscle while discovering the exciting world of Robotics! This program engages students in solving real life challenges in our society today, all with help from robots. The program builds from theory to practice. Students will virtually and physically design, build and program a robot from the ground up!
